The Sixth ESEH Conference will be held in Turku from 28 June to 2 July 2011. The conference will examine how the sea and land have encountered each other in history and how humans have  interacted with marine and land environments. The Baltic Sea and its coasts provide an excellent case to study this complex relationship.

The Turku Prize – New European Book Prize for Environmental History

The Rachel Carson Center for Environmental Studies (RCC) and the 
European Society for Environmental History (ESEH) have launched a new joint book prize, named the “Turku Prize”. It will be awarded every two years for the best monograph on a topic related to environmental 
history. The prize carries a cash award of 3000 euros.
